About "What is my IP"

Every time your device connects to the internet, your ISP gives it a public IP address. This page shows exactly what websites, games and online services see about you: your public IP, where the IP is geolocated, which ISP owns it, and whether it looks like a VPN, proxy or datacenter.

The geolocation comes from public WHOIS and BGP data — it's usually accurate at the country and city level. It is not a precise street-level location; nobody can derive that from an IP alone.

FAQ

Why does the city look wrong? ISPs sometimes announce blocks from a different city than you live in. Mobile networks and large ISPs are especially imprecise.

Is my IP permanent? Home users usually get a "dynamic" IP that changes when the modem reconnects. Servers, businesses and fibre customers often get static IPs.

How do I hide my IP? Use a VPN, Tor or a trusted proxy. We'll detect all three and show "Proxy/VPN: Yes".
